It sounds incredible, but a US company is offering a brand new computer to it’s customers still using Internet Explorer 7.
NursingJobs.us has worked out that it is cheaper to buy each customer using IE7 a new computer with an up to date and standards compliant web browser than it is to make their new website IE7 compatible.
On their blog, they say:
“We determined that it would cost us more to support a browser from 2006 in 2014 and beyond than it would to help our clients upgrade their legacy hardware”
It may be a bit of a publicity stunt, but it does highlight the problems and costs of making websites compatible with old and non-standard browsers.
