£16.9 million is to be spent on bringing super fast broadband to Leicestershire.

The deal involving the County Council, BT, the Government and the European Union should enable 95% of businesses and homes in the county to access internet speeds up to 20 times faster than the standard ADSL speeds currently available.

This is expected to boost the economy in Leicestershire significantly, especially in rural areas where fast internet can really help small, creative and hi-tech businesses.
