Despite months/ years of warnings about no updates for Windows XP after April 8th, Microsoft are releasing a patch to fix the recent Internet Explorer security vulnerability – making many of us in the IT industry look a bit daft. Well, that’s nothing new for Microsoft.

The reason that this vulnerability is being patched is because it occurred so soon after the end of life date for Windows XP.

Does this mean there will be more security fixes for Windows XP if (when) needed? Well, apparently Microsoft declined to comment. It will probably depend on how much coverage any future problem gets in the media.
